Survey, Selection, and Implementation of a Social Skills Intervention Program to Develop and Improve the Social Competence of Special Education Students false By: Published on 2006 by The purpose of this study was two fold: to research and select an appropriate prescriptive social skills program for nine students with high incidence disabilities and to examine the results of the prescriptive classroom-based social skills intervention program for students receiving services in a self-contained, special education classroom in order to determine whether or not the program assists students in improving their social skills. Students participated in twenty-three social skills training sessions in the domains of cooperation, assertion, responsibility, and self- control, led by the researcher, during the course of the school day.
